Alsa

Alsa

What is AIsa?

Alsa is a natural crop protection preparation on the basis of odour and taste compounds derived from garlic, among other things. These compounds, which can be effective in influencing the behaviour of harmful insects such as thrips, aphid, sciara, black vine weevil and suchlike are present in garlic where they are dissolved in oil.

Deruned has succeeded in extracting these oil-soluble odour and taste compounds from garlic using a special process. This has resulted in Alsa: a unique liquid product that can be effectively used for the control of various pests.

Alsa

How does AIsa work?

1. Alsa increases the effect of chemical and biological control

When Alsa is applied, the scent and flavour of your plant change in such a way that insects no longer find it attractive. The insects become restless and leave their hiding-place.

Chemical crop protection preparations and natural enemies can now be used much more effectively in the fight against insects. After all, the insects have become more accessible.

Moreover, preventative use of Alsa means that you need to spray with chemicals less frequently, which ensures that your crop remains in better condition.

2. Alsa works systemically in the plant

Alsa works systemically in the plant, which means that it can be administered with the nutrients. Alsa remains active in the plant for about 7 to 10 days. After this active period, the compounds are transformed in the plant into elements that are then used for normal metabolisation. That's why it is essential to apply Alsa weekly!!

Applications

Thrips

Good results will be obtained with a dosage of 0.5 to 2 litres per hectare. Thrips becomes restless, leaves its hiding-place and is more accessible for both chemicals and biological pesticides.

Usually, Alsa is dosed a day in advance, so that pest control can take place the following day.

Sciara (fungus gnat):

We recommend a dosage of 2 l/ha.

The gnat will become restless and fly (higher). This effect is nicely visible when using a trap lamp or trap plates.

The larva is driven away from around the stem of the plant, tries to find a better place, will end up in a drier environment and die.

Tips when using Alsa:

  • Use Alsa every week. All year round.
  • Use Alsa through the company, not only at spots with lots of insects.
  • This prevents the insects simply being driven away to less damaged spots.
  • Start using Alsa early enough. Don't wait until the insect burden is too high.
  • Add Alsa to the nutrient feed line. Not to the daily stock tank. Dose throughout the day, if possible.
  • Do not use simultaneously with hydrogen peroxide. Turn this off on the day of using Alsa.
